About the ASVAB Program
Step 1: The ASVAB TestThe ASVAB is an aptitude test that consists of eight short tests that help you identify your skills in the following areas:
Step 2: FYIThe FYI is an interest inventory that asks you questions about the kinds of activities you like or would like to do. When you take an interest inventory, you are providing information about your likes and dislikes. Your FYI results are interest codes that you can use to find careers that match your interests.
Step 3: Explore CareersExploring occupations will help you discover typical tasks, work environments, entrance requirements, and employment opportunities that will to help you decide on career fields or occupations that work for you.

Your FYI results will show you your strongest interest areas. The first letter in your code indicates your strongest interest area, the next letter, your second strongest, and so on.
If you have Interest Codes that are very close together they are equally important. The FYI interest areas will help you in exploring careers because you will be able to quickly identify occupations that include more of the things you have indicated you like to do.

WORK VALUES
Research has shown that people who choose occupations that support their values are generally more satisfied with their jobs. Understanding what you value about a job is also important in exploring various occupations and planning for your future.
As you consider the importance of various work-related values (see the list below), ask your parents, school counselor, or other people you know in the working world about their work values.
Your work values may change during different stages in your life. A change in life circumstances can lead to a shift in the importance of different values.
